DCN sets out a new future for the New Homes Bonus

The District Councils’ Network sets out a new future for the New Homes Bonus

In our response to the government’s consultation, the DCN calls for government to maintain current funding levels, honour the final legacy payment allocated in 2019/20, and reject any move to revisit the current 80-20 split that would favour county councils over district councils.

It is shire district councils who hold the statutory responsibility and accountability to ensure the delivery of new houses through the planning system, and the bonus must continue to incentivise and reward Local Planning Authorities for delivering the new homes the country needs.
