Dementia: The ‘modern day cholera’ & how districts are part of the solution

District councils have a long history of being at the forefront of public health, but rule changes, budget cuts and institutional focus have meant it being pushed aside as a key focus

This event is aimed at reinvigorating district councils who have an interest in health and wellbeing and showcasing some of the good work that the DCN’s members are already doing on dementia prevention and adaptation.

The keynote speaker will Prof John Ashton who has described Alzheimer’s as the ‘modern day cholera’ and will showcase the work of three ambitious district councils who are playing their part in the prevention agenda.

Registration is open for all district councillors and district council employees, if you are from another organisation and would like to attend please do get in contact with us at

Best wishes,

The DCN Team
